“caballo de belleza” – Completed

The “caballo de belleza” pastel piece is completed, and has a nice Tuscan feel to it.

This piece is second in the caballo series and has been given the dubious honor of falling into the category of pride through physical beauty.

I placed various elements of these attributes throughout the imagery to further develop the concept…

“caballo de guerra”

The first in the series of “caballo” illustrations has been completed and purchased, happy to be on its way to the home of a collector. Although the original piece is not available, high quality prints of this piece are available for purchase at Fine Art America.

I’m really pleased with the completed work and looking forward to continuing on with the series and taking a bit of a departure from the style I’ve been working in over the last couple of years, enjoy!

“rey de reyes, señor de señores” Painting Featured in R Pela Exhibit

rey de reyes, señor de señoresMy painting “rey de reyes, señor de señores” (“King of Kings, Lord of Lords”) is being displayed during the month of December at the R. Pela Gallery. This piece is based on Latin American Christian folk imagery with a bit of my own stylized approach thrown in.

Dream of dark horses – “sueño de caballos oscuros”

"sueño de caballos oscuros"

I recently completed a digital sketch for an upcoming project I’ll be working on. All who follow my work know how much I’m influenced by multi-cultured folk art styles, well my newest project will reflect more elements using these approaches. I’m moving towards a bit of an “old world” color palette on this piece (this seems to be a bit of a current trend in decorative art), and keeping with very simplistic, yet bold imagery.

The digital sketch will just be used as a basic template, so I’m assuming once it is placed onto canvas and the painting process begins that similarities between the finished images will be very remote.

“When the Sun Rises”, 36″ X 48″, Oil on Canvas with Liquin Finish, Available for Purchase.

My most recent painting completed, and quite an accomplishment, over 85 hrs invested, and time to switch gears for a while. The work turned out quite nicely, a little bit more articulate than I would have wanted, but well worth the investment.
